Be Part of a Guinness World Record Attempt: In Our Words – World Book Day 2026
Portsmouth is preparing to make history, and your school can be right at the centre of it. On Thursday 5 March 2026, as part of In Our Words and the wider Portsmouth100 celebrations marking 100 years of Portsmouth as a city, we’re bringing together 12,000 children at Fratton Park for one extraordinary shared reading moment. This ambitious event, delivered in partnership with Portsmouth Football Club and Portsmouth Libraries, aims to set a Guinness World Record and inspire a lifelong love of stories across the city. Open to school years 1–7, the day is designed to be simple, supported and unforgettable. Schools will benefit from coordinated logistics, clear planning and a creative programme that brings reading to life. Pupils can look forward to stories, costumes, celebration and a sense of pride in taking part in something truly historic.
