22nd June 2026 | 1015-1230 | at Playlands, Portsmouth Creates, 1-6 City Buildings, 193 Commercial Road, Portsmouth, Po1 4PD

Workshop 1: Getting Set for Business Readiness.

Creative workshop on business planning, funding & finance. Small group, tailored support to get your venture ready for success.

Kickstart your creative business with confidence. Portsmouth Creates Workshop 1: Getting Set for Business Readiness is a focused, high-impact session designed to sharpen your business planning, strengthen your funding readiness, and demystify your finances. With limited places available, this workshop ensures a tailored, hands-on experience, giving creative practitioners the clarity, tools, and confidence to turn ideas into sustainable ventures.

  • Guest speaker: Zoe Dann (University of Portsmouth) – an academic at the University of Portsmouth specialising in entrepreneurship, innovation, and business development. Her work supports startups and creative enterprises through research, teaching, and industry engagement, with a focus on practical business readiness, funding strategies, and sustainable growth for emerging ventures and entrepreneurs.
  • Case studies: Estefania Dogan founder of Golly Natural – Born and raised in the northern countryside of Portugal, Stef’s love for nature and simplicity has shaped everything she does. What began as personal experimentation soon became a calling. Through years of study, testing, and countless formulations, Stef created the products that would grow into Goly Natural — trusted by those seeking balance and comfort for sensitive skin.

The workshop will be held at Playlands, a space located beneath Portsmouth Creates offices at 1–9 Commercial Road, Portsmouth. It’s situated at the upper end of Commercial Road, directly opposite McDonald’s, and is easily identifiable by the large red “Playlands” sign.

  • Each workshop will run from 10:30am to 12:00pm, with additional time afterwards for informal networking with fellow attendees and speakers. Refreshments, including tea, coffee, and biscuits, will be provided.
  • There are several car parks nearby, and the venue is also well-served by public transport.
